2015
Mustang Update... LET'S CELEBRATE THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY!!!
The
2015 Mustang will most likely be launched in April 2014
to mark the Pony 50th Anniversary. This is all speculation
but it makes perfect sence from the Marketing point of view.
What
remains more of a mystery is what Ford is cooking in terms of design
elements and engines.
Design:
Some rumours would have us believe that the new Mustang will
look much like the Ford Evos concept, which was unveiled at
the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show.
Don't
get me wrong, this Aston Martin inspired coupe has nice lines
but where are the Mustang design elements? The "retro"
2005 Mustang has been highly successful and the 2010 and now
2013 have kept it somewhat fresh... but for the 2015 model,
it may be time to throw out the retro.
That
is the challenge for Ford designers: Inject some Mustang DNA
into a modern and sleek adaptation. GM managed to do just that
with the 2010+ Camaro. Let's see if Ford can do the same and
outsell GM again.
Performance:
While it's too early to speculate on powertrains for the next-gen
Mustang, It's no secret that Ford is pushing the EcoBoost engines
accross its entire range.
EcoBoost
started in 2009 and is now available in 3 configurations: 1.6L
I4, 2.0L I4 and 3.5L V6. The technology behind this engine is
Variable Camshaft Timing, Direct Injection and the use of Turbos.
Rumour
has it that even the Raptor may get nn Ecoboost powerplant in
2013... so the same thing in the new Mustang is not far-stretched.
